My passion for photography started in high school; my first camera being a polaroid. The photographs I take tend to be of my community and the things that interest me!
My cameras of choice are my Canon AE- 1 and Fuji Auto Focus 190 Zoom. I've most recently added a Mamiya C220 to my collection.
I completed a Black & White film photography course at the ICP this year and plan on continuing my developing and printing skills!
Pushing Through The Pain
2026- Current
Pushing Through The Pain follows my mother, Aris Cabrera De Mañon and her journey with her body. First diagnosed with osteo-arthritis in 2024, a chronic degenerative joint disease, her once busy life filled with quick movements, early mornings and burnout now reflects a slower, more thoughtful way of living. One that has forced her to live and look at life differently.
2 years after her initial diagnosis, she’s now been diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), a rare autoimmune overlap disease that features a mix of symptoms such as lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis.
Pushing Through The Pain aims to bring awareness to MCTD and show the difficult process of obtaining disability in the United States and show others that a disability does not mean the end of your life, but simply a new direction.
Beyond the pain, this project is very much an ode to girlhood. How women are often taught to push past their discomfort for the “greater good”. How women never really stop being girls. How girls are never really thought to be themselves for themselves, but rather thrusted into circumstances that shape their womanhood for others benefit.
